Been having such a great and busy time here so far!

Travelling here was ...long and tiring but so worth it seeing the amazing views. I settled in fine after buying in our essential food and cracking up the heaters to make me and Rhea's room cosy and more homely.

It still doesn't feel real looking at the mountains or going for train rides seeing the scenery, even the view from our window! It's craaaazy!!

I started work at the Tre Brør café which is just 5-7 minutes away from our apartments, so that's handy. Everyone's so friendly and inviting at my work, which is really comforting and lovely. I've done a whole bunch of things; waitressing, tidying outside, serving and making coffee. I'm slowly beginning to understand small words in Norwegian, it was funny the first few days, the constant "Sorry, can you say that again?".

We went out in a group to Norway in a Nutshell on Saturday 29th and that was unreal! A train ride to Myrdal, another to Flåm (the steepest train track in the world!) and then the ferry trip around the Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. I took heaps of photos (Photo below) and the weather was gorgeous. SO MUCH SUN!

This week we're going to try the Wind tunnel and I'm going to Bergen this weekend. Exciting times!

Norway so far.

Heya Guys, Gaelan here. So far my time in Norway has been great. The journey is fairly straight forward with only a few hiccups here and there! The past few days I've been working with a company called "Tunge Ting." this company makes concrete furnitures and letters. They also did the "Voss" sign you see coming into Voss on the train. They are really great guys to work with and speak really good English (thankfully!) They're always laughing and joking around you the "Potetkanon" or in English "Potato Cannon" which doesn't work. 

Work aside, the majority of us went on a tour called "Norway in a Nutshell." That in itself could be the soul reason for anyone to visit Norway, some of the sights and the entire landscape is magnificent. In the tour you start of with a train to Myrdal, this isn't really awe inspiring, but this is just travelling to the beginning of a great day. Once in Mydal we boarded another train across to a place called Flam (pronounced Flom) and throughout this journey it is littered with great scenery and history, which it also tells you as you travel on. When we arrived in Flam, we had a few hours to do as we wished to go see the sights, go for a walk, and even go to the souvenir centre where I bought myself a Seal Skin! (after much deliberation and trying to decide whether I wanted the bear skin more). Onve the time came, we boarded the boat to a place called Gudvangen, and once again, this Journey is full of amazing sights. I don't remember much of the bus journey from Gudvangen to Voss, but that is purely as I fell asleep on the bus back!

Latter on this week we will be visiting the wind tunnel, so that should be interesting!

Time in Voss for Construction student

Hi, It's been a busy two weeks here in Voss only gotten a chance to update the blog now. Can hardly believe that we left Shetland two weeks today. We have had a jam packed weeks with starting work last week past Thursday, Then going on a trip on satartday on Norway in a Nut shell to see the fjords witch was AMAZING. At work I have been working on a house just up the road from the accommodation witch is handy. Things that I have learned and done have been insulation (glass wool installation witch is very itchy) I have nailed wood to the wall and ceiling. Today I have been nailing a plastic cover to the inside of the wall to keep moister out off the house. I am due to start at Tunge Ting on Thursday witch is the only concrete place in the whole of the Norway, making things like kitchen work tops, bathroom sinks and they have just made recently made a Voss sign that sits out side the library building near the lake.

Hi my name is Curtis Williamson one of the candidates that was selected for a work placement in Voss. I've been in Voss for about a week and I've been working at a school in IT both learning and helping as much as I can things like how to work the school servers and how to work some software as well as doing things like grabbing a few things for the people who work there, making coffee or even helping someone at the school.
